A pearl is a hard object usually produced within the soft tissue of an oyster. The pearl is formed when an irritant enters the oyster. The ideal pearl is perfectly round and smooth, but pearls form in many other shapes. The finest quality natural pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries. The word pearl has become a metaphor for something very rare, fine, admirable, and valuable. In many ways we are like a pearl in God’s hands that He molds and shapes into a thing of beauty…and we are precious to Him.
Edwina Patterson is privileged to introduce you to her granddaughter,
Catherine Patterson
Catherine is a senior in high school. She loves to learn new things and to read, especially books that make her think.
She trusted Jesus as her Savior when she was eight years old and has had a yearning to please Him since then. He has given her a heart for music and children. Catherine plays the piano and violin and sings which fits right in with Jr. Jam (a two year old music program she teaches on Sundays). In addition, she is a Director of the four year old Children’s Choir at her church which causes her to not only teach music and songs but to also keep the children’s attention. Part of her job responsibilities as a Director is to interact with their parents.
Although she is basically very shy, she has learned to focus on the Lord and attempt and accomplish things that astound her…and make us very proud. We believe she is the perfect one to share the things she has learned to enlighten and encourage young girls as they struggle through their journey to maturity.
